Clay Joseph Johnston, of 78, of Maiden, North Carolina passed away on August 9, 2022, at Atrium Health – Lincoln Hospital. Born on April 4, 1944 in Connecticut, he was the son of the late George William and Estner Agnes Gotsel Johnston.
Clay proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. He was a Foreman for the Railroad by profession
Besides his parents, Clay is preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years Bev Johnston.
Clay is survived by his sons, Kevin (Tammy) Johnston and Steven (Doreen) Schram; grandchildren Dani and Caleb Johnston and Steven (Lori), Stephanie (Ray) and Sam (Rachel) Schram; sisters Georgia Johnston, Gina (Terry) Collins, Janice (Larry) Stevens and Marlene (Marshall) Hall; his special companion Vicky Markowski and his fur baby, Belle
Family will receive friends on Friday August 12, 2022, from 12:30-2:00PM at The Good Samaritan Funeral Home 3362 North Highway 16 Denver, NC 28037. A Catholic Prayer service will immediately follow at 2:00PM. Internment with Military Honors will take place after at Forest Lawn Cemetery 2858 E Highway 150, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
