By Catherine on November 4, 2021 in Obituaries
Carl Wayne Rader (Pete), 77, of Davidson, NC passed away on November 1, 2021 surrounded by loved ones after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Pete was born on April 12, 1944 to the late Zeb and Earline Rader in Newton, NC.

He is survived by his wife & love of his life, Sandy and his children: Lori Rader (Chris Hayes), Butch Rader (Diane), Tim Rader (Jerri), and Haley Etz (David). His grandchildren: Christina, Alexus & Jacob Rader, Kayla & Emma Hayes, Isaac Rader and Harper & Wyatt Etz. His brother, Buddy Rader and sisters, Patty Burris and Brenda Detter (Harold).

After graduating from Fred T. Ford High school in 1962, Pete joined the US Navy where he served as an aircraft mechanic. After his years of service, he worked for Eastern Airlines for more than 20 years and then went to work for Carolinas Medical Center, eventually retiring from Lincoln Harris in 2009.

In his retirement, Pete enjoyed doing projects around the house, spending time on his boat on Lake Norman, listening to music and enjoying time with family & friends. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours on his porch taking in the wonders of each day. He was a devoted husband, father & papa and pet parent to Gracie & Sam.

Pete’s family is forever grateful to the Novant Health Hospice team for their love and care for the past 10 months, especially Max and Audrey who became close friends during his care.

Funeral services will be at his childhood church, St. Paul Lutheran Church 3761 Startown Rd. Newton, North Carolina 28658 on Saturday, November 13th at 2pm.

Friends and family are invited to a flag folding ceremony in Pete’s honor & reception in the fellowship hall immediately following the funeral. Guests are encouraged to wear face coverings while in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Pete’s memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church – Newton, North Carolina or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
