Stephen Craig Jamgochian

Stephen Craig Jamgochian, age 75, of Terrell, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026 due to vascular dementia.  He was blessed with the ongoing and loving support of his family and neighbors, church, and the staff from Carolina Caring Hospice.  He was born on August 21, 1950 in Chamblee, Georgia to John Jamgochian, Jr. and his wife Edith Kinsey Jamgochian.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many.

After completing high school in 1969 he attended UNG Military College in Dahlonega, GA and thereafter served in the US Army 7th Special Forces Airborne Division, and also the 10th Special Forces.  Upon his discharge he attended and graduated from Emory University’s Allied Health Program in 1976 and worked for years as a Cardiovascular Radiology Technician.  He was a very creative person, and especially enjoyed working with stone, and ran a small business, Stone Works, designing and building beautiful fireplaces, surrounds, stonewalls, and prominent landscaping projects.  He was also an artist, painting in oils and acrylics.  He took great pleasure in aviation and was a private, instrument, and multiengine rated pilot.  When not tooling around VFR, he could be found wide awake in the wee hours with a telescope exploring the night skies. Other interest that would light up his big smile included weight lifting, mountain biking, hiking, varied sports, boating, scuba diving, knife throwing, the joy of his family, and his many friends.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Whitaker Jamgochian, daughter Stephanie and husband David Mack, and grandsons Sam and Owen, and daughter Sarah and husband Tripp Wilson, and grandchildren Jonathan and Haley. Also surviving him is his beloved brother, John Jamgochian, wife Mary, and their family. Complimenting and sharing his life has been a rowdy bevy of talented, fun, in-laws and out-laws, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his life-long friend, Danny McClain and his wife Maria.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on July 25th at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, 9297 Sherrills Ford Road, Terrell.  The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 p.m.  There will a service in the sanctuary at 2:00, followed by refreshments and gathering in the church’s Family Life Center.  In lieu of flowers, if inclined, one can donate to Carolina Caring (Carolinacaring.org), or to Rehobethumc.org, Pickleball Sports ministry. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Good Samaritan Funeral Home, Denver, NC.
