John Raymond Szimanouskas, 69, of Vale, passed away at his home on May 25, 2026. He was born on September 27, 1959 in Windham County, Connecticut to Anthony and Julia (Chraszcz) Szimanouskas.
John was a social worker working with disability and community services.

John was a dear friend whom I met through “Twitter” (back when it was called that). Aside from being the greatest “Cat Dude” ever, John was a deeply loving, caring, intelligent, & loyal man. For over a decade, we supported eachother online and chatted privately away from the screen names. He never failed to name one feel special.
My heart broke when I learned of his passing. He will be sorely missed by myself and many others.

We met John through Twitter also. ‘Cat Dude’ was an appropriate name for him as he was a champion for the cats he and Jan supported.😻😻😻
He was also my ‘birthday brother’. 🎂
