Mary Draughon Edwards, 89, received her wings on June 14th, 2026. She was born on July 22, 1936, in Avery County, NC. She is the daughter of the late Henry Draughon and Blanche Horney Draughon.
Mary spent her later years being caregiver for her late husband Paul. Mary loved spending time with her family, cooking great meals, gardening, reading, and sewing.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Paul Edwards, and her son Richard Edwards. Two brothers, Roby Draughon and William Draughon.
Mary is survived by three daughters, Patricia Jackson, Brenda Latham, and Beverly Bloomfield and eight grandchildren, Randy Latham, Gary Latham, Ashley Downs, Drew Jackson, Rachel Hardin, Amy Hawks, William Bloomfield, and Matthew Bloomfield, eleven great grandchildren and her fur baby Sophie.
Mary’s wishes were to have her Celebration of life in her hometown of Banner Elk, North Carolina, surrounded by her family. Mary requested this to be her final resting place.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s hospital.
