Gwendoline “Joy” Burch, 73, of Denver, NC. passed away on December 7, 2019 at Novant Health – Huntersville Medical Center. She was born on December 15, 1945 in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, South Wales to the late James Ivor Evans and Mair Eluned Evans (nee Phillips).
Joy grew up in Pontyberem, Carmarthenshire, South Wales. She graduated from Gwendraeth Secondary Modern School in Pontyberem, Carmarthenshire, South Wales.
Joy married Raymond Michael Burch of Acton, London, England in 1966 in Pontyberem, Carmarthenshire, South Wales. They were happily married for 53 years. Joy was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was also an avid bowler for many years.
Besides her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her older sister, Jean Doyle of Upper Tumble, Carmarthenshire, South Wales.
Joy is survived by her spouse, Raymond Michael Burch of Denver, NC.; her children Caroline Jane Perry and Andrew James Burch, both of Denver, NC.; grandchildren, Christopher Michael Perry, Colin James Perry and Reese Lynn Burch of Denver, NC. and siblings Rayma Brown and Ryle Dansie both of Penygroes, Carmarthenshire, South Wales;
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Denver United Methodist Church 3910 (Business) North Highway 16 Denver, NC. Burial will follow the service in the Denver Community Cemetery located behind the church.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives immediately following the burial at 8106 Blades Trail, Denver, NC.
