In the Bible, King David was called a “man after God’s heart” in the sense of being committed to the Lord’s will and purposes. David Rohrbaugh was that kind of man also. While David was a loving, caring, and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, above all he was a faithful and committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.David was born Sept. 27, 1945 in Decatur, Illinois to Glenn and Sue Rohrbaugh. He was the second of their three sons – Glenn, David, and Rick. Glenn died two years ago. Rick, his wife, their children and grandchildren live in Asheville, NC.
David met his wife Jo while they were students at Furman University. They married in 1968 and have two children – Paul and Shelley who is married to Derek Monsour. They also have two grandsons – Robert Austin Short and Jacob Monsour.
David served as an Army officer in the Vietnam War, worked in banking for several years, but experienced real enjoyment as a commercial real estate broker. He acknowledged God’s blessing in being able to start a company in Charlotte, NC entitled Eagle Real Estate taking the name from Isaiah 40:31: “Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
