David Rohrbaugh

In the Bible, King David was called a “man after God’s heart” in the sense of being committed to the Lord’s will and purposes.  David Rohrbaugh was that kind of man also.  While David was a loving, caring, and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, above all he was a faithful and committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

David was born Sept. 27, 1945 in Decatur, Illinois to Glenn and Sue Rohrbaugh.  He was the second of their three sons – Glenn, David, and Rick.  Glenn died two years ago.  Rick, his wife, their children and grandchildren live in Asheville, NC.

David met his wife Jo while they were students at Furman University.  They married in 1968 and have two children – Paul and Shelley who is married to Derek Monsour.  They also have two grandsons – Robert Austin Short and Jacob Monsour.

David served as an Army officer in the Vietnam War, worked in banking for several years, but experienced real enjoyment as a commercial real estate broker.  He acknowledged God’s blessing in being able to start a company in Charlotte, NC entitled Eagle Real Estate taking the name from Isaiah 40:31:  “Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 1:00PM -2:00PM at Christ Church ARP 409 N. Little Egypt Rd. Denver, NC 28037. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00PM.

David will be laid to rest at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury NC.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Christ Church ARP Denver, NC 28037. Ligonier Ministries, or Samaritan’s Purse

I am thankful for all of the time I got to spend with my Dad through the years, we hiked in the mountains, played tennis and pickleball, and even disc golf a few times. My Dad was a very strong Christian whose faith in the Lord everyone saw at church each week and during activities in the Charlotte area and on vacations in Florida and the mountains on NC. For my sister Shelley and me he was the greatest dad ever and will be lovingly remembered by us.

Paul…I love what you said about your father. He was a very great dad, husband, and provider. I miss him so much, but am assured that we will all be united together one day because of Christ. I love you, Mom

Mr David felt like family from the first minute I met him. He opened his arms and welcomed my son Jacob in as his own and treated myself and family as his own extended family. He, his wife, daughter Shelley and family – you just couldn’t ask for better people. I was blessed to meet him, know him and do business with him. His love for the Lord and his family was so evident in his daily walk and I know the Lord welcomed him with open arms saying “Well done my good and faithful son!” Mr. David – thank you for the kindness, love, and compassion you shown to me and so many others. You will be missed, rest in peace!

Uncle Dave is in many of my early memories in Charlotte — eating dinners at his table, watching him play tennis with my parents or seeing his new car! He was dedicated to his family, his wife and his church. He was a thoughtful person that always seemed very deliberate in the words he chose and calm in the face of adversity. I am relieved to know that he’s no longer in physical pain, although I know his departure leaves a hole in his loved one’s hearts. Rest in peace Uncle Dave. Sending love from NJ to Aunt Jo, Shelley and Paul.
