Richard “Rich” Edward Reakes, 56, of Maiden, passed away on July 31,2022. He was the son of Kenneth and Algitha Reakes.
Rich was a resident of Maiden, North Carolina; but originally from Caughdenoy, New York
Rich is preceded in death by his mother, Algitha Reakes.
Rich is survived by his wife, Tammy Newell Reakes, daughter, Amber Marie Lail (Trey), son, Richard Edward Reakes, II (Brandi), grandchildren, Maddison Lail, Cash Lail, and Baby Boy Lail (expected October 2022), father, Kenneth Reakes, brothers, Kenneth (late Cathy), Samuel (Kathy), Jack (Julie) Reakes, sisters, Carol Huntley (Dave), Mary Graffoulier (Fred), and several nieces and nephews.
Rich was loved by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. If you know Rich, you know he always had a smile on his face. Rich had a love for cars, especially the classics, and dirt track racing. He spent most of his time doing what he loved, working on cars. He helped many in the community and truly loved doing it. When he wasn’t working on cars, he enjoyed spending his free time with the love of his life, Tammy, their family, and friends that became family.
Love you my brother rich, there is an empty hole in our family first mother now you,the pain goes deep brother and the loss hit the reakes family hard,but I don’t have to tell you the reakes family is tough and we can live with this pain until our own dimiz……love you richard and may you rest in peace and I truly believe I will see you,mom and Cathy at another time…..R.I.P my smiling brother!!!!
I am still at a loss for words at your completely unexpected, and untimely, departure. You were more like a big brother than an uncle. I will always have the most wonderful memories of you taking me roller skating every weekend with you and Tammy ❤️. You always had a big smile and an even bigger laugh. You loved your family fiercely, and we’re so very proud of them, and your love for your friends and family was always apparent I know you are in Heaven, but we will all miss you so much. Please give Gramma, Aunt Cathy, Holly Kay and all our others up there with you a huge hug for us, 💔.

Fly High,I’m so glad I married your wife Tammy’s brother,so I was able to meet you and be apart of your life .Two things I will always remember about you is your smile and that You Never gave up or judge My Husband Bill Newell and Me .Instead you encouraged us to do better .You are gonna be missed dearly down here ,but We know you will always be smiling up there looking down at us .Til we meet again.Fly High Brother.
Rich, you were an awesome friend and neighbor. I’m going to miss you ripping up the streets but I’m going to miss you the most. You had the biggest smile but an even bigger heart. I’ll cherish the memories shared always. You declared Art and I as family and that’s something I hold forever in my heart. Life won’t be the same without the “Mayor of Pebble Stone Rd”.
