Harold (Hal) Vance Lackey Jr.

Harold (Hal) Vance Lackey, Jr., 80 years old, of Denver, NC, passed away on August 8, 2023.

Hal was born in Mecklenburg County to Harold and Mabel Lackey on January 28, 1943. He later graduated from Guilford College. Over 50 years ago, Hal established Hal Lackey Enterprises (Delmar Studios), now known as Carolina Photography. He was known as a dedicated businessman and employer in the school photography industry. He was also a member of Denver United Methodist Church and was involved in the former Catawba Springs Hunting Club. Hal will be remembered by his family and friends as jovial, generous, intelligent, entrepreneurial, and hard-working.

Hal is survived by his three sons and their families, as well as his close cousin: Carl (Angie) Lackey and their children Hannah (Brent) Westergren and Mary Lou Lackey; David (Dava) Lackey and their children Elizabeth, Joshua, and John Paul Lackey; Matthew (Grace) Lackey and their children Zoe and Eve Lackey; Dolores (Joe) Miller.

Receiving of Friends will be held by the family in the Denver United Methodist Church chapel at 1:00 PM on August 13, 2023. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary, officiated by Pastor Steve Autrey.

    Carl & David, so sorry for your loss. Praying God’s grace over your families.
    Hal was a great businessman and it was a honor to know him. I worked at
    Delmar in Matthew’s and was Hal’s customer service representative for many
    years.

    We wish there was time to meet Hal, but we feel that we know him well from the great things that our colleague Hannah Westergren has told us about her graduate father, Hal.     I was so sorry to hear about your Dad passing away! We always getting together when you were so young! He was always so much fun and special to my family!l lam 91 now and in assiitted living in Indian Land,SC The Blake and if your mother is well l would love to hear from her!
