Frances Genta, of Denver, NC and formerly of Vandergrift, PA. died peacefully in her 100th year on November 26, at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville, NC. She was born on January 7, 1920 in Indiana, PA. She lived most of her life in Vandergrift, PA.
She married Joseph Genta in 1947 and they were married 55 years prior to his death in 2002,
She was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Vandergrift, PA. for most of her adult life. Then upon moving to North Carolina after her husband died, she was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She lived her last five years at Wexford House in Denver, NC.
She loved to do word search puzzles, crochet, and text and do Facebook on her I Phone!
She has one sister, Carolyn Bland and three deceased brothers Tony Violi, Lou Violi, and Rocco Violi.
Survivors also include her daughter Mary Louise “Cookie” Genta Hoguet and son-in-law, Frank Hoguet of Denver, NC., a son Tony Genta and daughter-in-law Lisa of Sarver, PA.
She has seven grandchildren, Ryan Hoguet in San Francisco, CA., Brandon Hoguet in Portland, OR., Tabitha Genta Bowser of Worthington, PA., Wesley Genta of Ridgeland, SC., and Eric, Michael and Justin Genta of Sarver, PA.
She has fifteen great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass will be Saturday December 14, 2019 at 11:00 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 537 North Highway 16 Denver, North Carolina 28037.

Although she was my cousin, Aunt Fran referred to herself as my Aunt. She has been in my life ever since I was born, nearly 76 years ago. I grew up in Vandergrift, PA with Aunt Fran and her husband, Joe always a few houses away from me. She was one of my most beloved “Aunts” and i will always love and miss her greatly. Rest in Peace, Aunt Fran. To Cookie and all her family I want to offer my sincere sympathy and prayers.
