Douglas ‘Doug’ McArthur Smith

Douglas (Doug) McArthur Smith, a machinist and resident of Denver, NC, died on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the age of 76 in his home in Denver, NC.

Doug was born in Goldsboro, NC on August 7, 1945 to Lester and Nanny Jones Smith. He owned a successful machinist business, Head & Block Repair Service, Inc. in Charlotte, NC for 20 years.

Doug is survived by his wife, Kay Smith, his children,
Cindy and husband Tim Estridge, Leah Beard (Mollie
Matthews), Jackie Smith, and Trevin Smith and wife
Tracy Drake. Grandchildren Laura and husband Adam
Akers, Shane and wife Jennifer Estridge, and Gage
Drake Smith. Great-grandchildren Camden, Bennett,
and Lucy Akers. Siblings Joyce Rice, Geraldine Coley,
Cathy Osborne, and Carol Holbrooks.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, and brothers Jasper B. Smith, Rudolph Smith, and Carl Smith.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 537 North Highway 16 Denver, NC 28037. Casual Attire.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church Building Fund.


A celebration of Doug Smith’s life will be held immediately following the service at DuGaren Venues & Vineyards, 6656 King Wilkinson Road, Denver, NC 28037, phone (704) 530-9971.

    Doug was a brother that had a tender heart for all. Prayers to Kay and the kids as healing from his loss will take time. He loved you all and may God’s peace be with you as is mine’s, Mike’s , and Steve’s.
