Catherine Smith

Catherine Smith of Denver, NC passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving day at home with her husband at her side.

She was born on March 14, 1956 in Columbus, OH.  She was the daughter of the late Robert Yeager and Kathleen Condon Yeager.

Cathy graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in 1974 and  from Miami University of OH in 1978.  She was a proud member of the Alpha Omicron chapter of Delta Gamma at Miami.

Cathy and Jeffrey were married on September 24, 1993 in Columbus and began their life together in Atlanta where their son was born.  Cathy had a successful career spanning 20 years with the Coca-Cola Company holding field management positions before being promoted to Coke’s home office as a Marketing Executive.  Cathy then turned her skills to real estate after retiring from Coke and retired again to focus on volunteering on a full time basis.

Cathy’s passion and ministry was cooking.  She  loved to cook, especially Italian, with son Corbin  and for years was a volunteer at Feed NC, formerly the Mooresville Soup Kitchen. She also   provided meals for the Wednesday night Bible study dinner.  It’s no wonder that Corbin has become a successful chef. Later in her life, another hobby became knitting blankets, sweaters, and caps for newborn babies and cancer patients.

She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Jeffrey and son, Corbin of Napa, California; sister Connie and her husband, Charles McCreary of Columbus, OH: numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 12:00PM at  Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Mooresville, NC

In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine’s memory can be made to FeedNC.org
