Anthony “Tony” Wentz

Anthony “Tony” Christian Wentz passed away in his home in Charlotte, NC on August 17, 2021. Tony was a talented actor and singer, devoted brother and son, and a friend who loved to make people laugh. He attended Lincolnton High School in Lincolnton, NC, and worked for Amazon in Charlotte. He was frequently the lead in Lincoln County Theater productions in his youth, and some of his favorite roles were Willy Wonka, Tony in West Side Story, and other leading roles in Flowers for Algernon, Noises Off, The Wizard of Oz, and Greater Tuna.

Tony was one of the most resilient people his family knew. He suffered from behavioral health issues all of his life, but he consistently moved forward and did his best in spite of his challenges.

He loved to be on stage, sing, watch the WVU Mountaineers play basketball and football, and he loved his family. His favorite color was orange because it was Frank Sinatra’s favorite color. He loved 90’s alternative rock, funny movies, and he was a sneaker aficionado. His favorites were Vans and Pumas. His memorial service was in Denver, NC on Saturday.

The family encourages anyone who would like to memorialize Tony to donate to the Lincoln County Theater Guild or your local behavior health non-profit. Many people are dealing with behavioral health issues. Let’s continue to destigmatize this issue.
