Winfred ( Winkey )Truman Jones went to be with his Savior in heaven on Wednesday November 15, 2023. Winkey was born in Hoke County, North Carolina on August 13, 1947, to Bennie Lee Jones and Mary Louise (Shore) Jones. Winkey was raised in Sanford, NC and served proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam.
Winkey was a welder in power plants including Duke Energy.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Winkey is survived by his wife Gwen Jones; brothers Needham Jones (Belle) of Mobile Al, and Bennie Jones of Mobile Al; daughters Silver Jones, Jayne Williams of Sanford, Gabby Stancil; son Soloman Reid; stepsons Tony Cannon and Scott Cannon; grandson Eric Jones and great granddaughter Wilhelmina (Mina) Jones.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 1:00PM at The Good Samaritan Funeral Home; 3362 North Highway (Business) 16 Denver, NC 28037. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00PM. Winfred will be laid to rest at Beth Haven Church Cemetery beginning at 3:30PM with military honors.
