Nicholas J. Straniero

Nicholas J. Straniero “Pop” passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024. He was born on January 6, 1933, to the late Nic and Rosalie Straniero in Hazlet, New Jersey where he was also raised.  He graduated from Keyport High School. He proudly served in the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. Following the Army, he was employed by the Asbury Park Press.

Nick went on to marry the love of his life Leona Jane and raised their children in Neptune. Nick loved NASCAR Racing, the Biltmore, and was still bowling at 90 years old.

Nick was always there lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Besides his parents, Nick is preceded in death by his loving wife Leona Jane Henry; his daughter Judith Grant and her husband George; his sisters Ann and Lena; and his brothers Sammy, Gino, and John.

He is survived by his daughter Gina Francis and her husband Tom; his son Nick and his wife Melanie; his grandchildren James and his wife LaShonda, Joanne, Thomas, Nick and his wife Lydia; his great-grandchildren Dynasia, Gina, Jas, Julian, and Luke; great-great granddaughter Aria; and his brothers Joe and Tony. 

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday April 5, 2024 at 11:00AM at Green Grove Cemetery in Keyport, New Jersey.
