Maureen Haney Lanzilotti

Maureen Ann “Mo” Lanzilotti (née Haney), 95, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2025, in Iron Station, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Maureen lived a life rooted in faith, love, and joyful service.

Born August 13, 1929, in Montclair, New Jersey, she was the eldest daughter of Thomas and Florence Haney. A gifted student, Maureen graduated as valedictorian of Immaculate Conception High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Vermont.

She married the love of her life, Anthony Edward “Tony” Lanzilotti, PhD. United in faith and music, Maureen often sang “Lida Rose” with Tony’s Barbershop quartet. Their 68-year marriage was marked by devotion to God, daily prayer, and mutual respect. They were blessed with four children: Dr. Thomas A. Lanzilotti of New Jersey, Mother Maureen of the Precious Blood, OCD (Janice Maureen), Michael G. Lanzilotti of Ohio, and Karen R. Lappin of North Carolina.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Maureen attended Mass and prayed the Rosary daily, and was a member of Opus Dei. At St. Margaret of Antioch Church in Pearl River, NY, she served faithfully as choir director and head of the Rosary Altar Society, and generously shared her beautiful voice to sing hundreds of weddings and funerals.

Professionally, Maureen found joy as a preschool teacher, known for her warmth, creativity, and kindness. Her generous spirit and compassionate heart left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister Patricia Fimian of VA, her children Thomas (Jean Marie), Michael (Jean Patricia), and Karen (Paul), 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Tony; daughter Mother Maureen of the Precious Blood; and nephew Brian Fimian.

Maureen leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and joyful service. May she rest in eternal peace with Our Lord.

    Karen & Cathy-

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your beautiful family. What a beautifully long and servant life your mom and grandmother lived. Her love for the Lord and value of family was taught well and passed down to each of you and without question the rest of your faithful family. What a legacy.

Prayers of peace love and comfort to all

    Dear Karen and Family,
The passing of your dear mother will be very sad news for the parish of St. Margaret of Antioch and especially for our members of St. Margaret’s Rosary Altar Society here in Pearl River, New York. Maureen was our wonderful President of our Society from 1983 to 1989. She was a beautifully spiritual person. It was wonderful to see Maureen and Tony always together at Mass. They were quite an inspiration to us all. And your sister, Janice (Sister Maureen of the Precious Blood) was our devoted Secretary back in 1989. Please accept my deepest sympathy on Maureen’s passing.
    Sincerely, Mary Clark, PRNY

I am so sorry to hear about your mom’s /grandmother’s passing. I have many fond and great memories of times I spent in their company on Grove Street. It was amazing to see an Oldsmobile, later I think it was a Camry, going through town, appearing to be driverless, but with a closer look, could make out your mom and dad’s top of their heads. And the great symphonies of the numerous clocks and chimes throughout the house on every quarter hour. But seriously they were an amazing couple and I am sorry for your loss. Sorry I could not get down to the services.
    My deepest sympathies
    Tom Brennan
