John Anthony DiMartino

John Anthony DiMartino, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 22nd, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by his beloved family.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen; his children Jessica (David), Johnny (Melanie), and Tammy (Kevin); his grandchildren Talia, Tressa, Antonio, Jax, and Hudson; and his great-grandson, Alexander. He is also survived by his loving sisters Carol and Patricia (Michael). He is deeply loved and remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, lifelong friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

John is preceded in death by his father, Antonio Cosmo; his mother, Josephine Rosemary; his brother-in-law Tony; and other cherished family members who welcomed him lovingly into eternal rest.

John was born on May 21st, 1948, at Mather Hospital and raised in East Patchogue, New York, where he formed lifelong friendships and became known for his loyalty, and warm presence. He graduated from Patchogue–Medford High School, Class of 1967.

After high school, John honorably served as a six-year veteran of the Army National Guard, creating memories with his unit that he shared often with his children and grandchildren. His service deeply shaped the values he lived by—integrity, loyalty, and unwavering commitment.

After the passing of his father, John proudly took over Patchogue Asphalt, continuing his father’s legacy with dedication and pride. Following his retirement from Patchogue Asphalt, John spent several years driving for Suffolk Transportation, a job he genuinely enjoyed because it allowed him to stay active, connected, and on the road.

John and Kathleen raised their family in Sayville, New York, where they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and love. John was the father who attended every game, every event, every moment—cheering loudly and supporting fiercely. He joyfully teased and “busted chops,” but his love was constant, protective, and unmistakable. His children always knew they were safe, provided for, and deeply loved.

John welcomed many of his children’s and grandchildren’s friends into his life, treating them as family. His honesty, sometimes blunt, sometimes gruff—was always rooted in love and authenticity. Above all else, he valued integrity, honesty, and family, and he lived these values every single day.

John found peace in life’s simple pleasures. He loved trucks, Corvettes, NASCAR, working out in his yard, and cheering for the New York Yankees. He delighted in decorating every holiday, loved taking his family to dinner, and especially enjoyed shopping. He took enormous pride in being the family’s annual “antipasti king,” carefully preparing it each holiday with tradition and love.

John leaves behind a legacy of deep love, strength, and tradition. He will be profoundly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandson, and all who know him. His stories, his traditions, and his unwavering devotion will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind. His family will forever honor him by carrying on the values and love that defined his life.
