Jim Long, age 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, July 19, 2021, after a brief illness.
James Hawk Long was born January 5, 1948, to the late James Reed Long and Lucille Loiselle Long in Pittsburgh, PA.
Jim and Dorothy(Dottie)Huey were married September 1, 1973, in Salado, Texas, and had enjoyed over 47 years of marriage. He served in the U.S.Army for 6 years with 3 tours in Viet Nam. Later he became a truck driver and retired from Yellow Freight in 2010. He enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking, cooking, and working with his hands. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with the grandkids and his beloved dog Barney.
Jim is survived by his wife Dottie, 3 sons: James Justin Long and daughter in law Erin, grandchildren Maggie, Hayden, and Michael, Denver, NC, Matthew Lee Long, Iron Station, NC, Jordan Hawk Long and daughter in law Jennifer, grandchildren Emerson and Valor, High Shoals, NC, brother Bill Long, Bessemer City, NC and sister Ginger Olson, Pahrump, NV.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, July 24, at Real Life Church, 15434 Lucia Riverbend Hwy., Stanley, NC with Pastor Mike Davis officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
