Gregory Dale Howard

Gregory Dale Howard, age 66, of Denver, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Greg was born on September 1, 1959, and was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gerald and Iola Howard. He is survived by his loving sisters, Jan Phillips and Amy Buss; brothers-in-law, Andy Phillips and Rick Buss; his cherished niece, Casey Dacus; and Casey’s fiancé, Tyler Freeman.

Greg was the best son, brother, and uncle any of us could have asked for. Though he endured a long-term illness that took much from his body, Greg never complained. He faced life with quiet strength, grace, and dignity. Words that best describe him are kind, gracious, and generous.

Following in his parents’ footsteps, Greg built a long and dedicated career with Duke Energy, serving in various roles with the company until his retirement.

Greg had a love of animals which began early, growing up on the family farm in Denver, where he cared for cows and his prized donkey, Jeremiah. That love continued throughout his life, especially with his rescue dogs, Joanie and Sadie, who were treasured companions for many years.

Greg’s life was rich with memories that included time spent with lifelong friends from high school and work (many who knew him affectionately as “Fuzz”), motorcycle rides, trips to Myrtle Beach and Daytona Beach, and a deep love for country music, especially Alabama and Willie Nelson.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Greg’s dedicated team of caregivers who provided exceptional care over the past several years, and especially in recent months. Special thanks to Caroline Short, Carol Dunn, Ashley Reid, Sandra Herron, and the staff of Stress Free Home Care for their compassion and kindness.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Greg’s life on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Sports Page in Denver, North Carolina.

Greg will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Truly a man of greatness and loved by many. Cherish his legacy by doing the acts of kindness that he demonstrated and willingness to make things better around all. Nothing like having a party with Jesus, pain-free!
