George Michael Carpenter, Sr, 78, of Denver, NC, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025. Mike was born on July 8, 1947, in Johnson City, TN to Mozelle Hicks Doty and Grady Carpenter.
Mike was a proud Army veteran who served in Vietnam. After leaving the Army he worked at R.E. Mason Co. for 43 years.
He was a devoted and loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was a charter member of Denver Baptist Church and a follower of Jesus Christ. Mike loved spending time with his family, particularly at the beach. He also loved reading and serving his church, and volunteered at East Lincoln Christian Ministries for seven years.
Left to cherish his memory are Dianne Carpenter, his loving wife of 60 years; his daughter Kim Fowler and son in law Bruce Fowler of Denver, NC; his son Mike Carpenter and daughter in law Carrie Carpenter of Wyckoff, NJ; and grandchildren Timothy Fowler, Catherine Carpenter, Claire Carpenter, and Michael Carpenter.
The Memorial Service will be held at Denver Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 2:30pm. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory may be made to Denver Baptist Church or the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, NC.

Mike and Dianne were among the first people we met at DBC and we were blessed to have been in a BSF class with them for several years. Mike was a great Christian and a light for so many. He will be missed greatly. Prayers and thoughts for the family.

I worked with Mike Carpenter at R.E. Mason and for many years he was my Manager. He was 1 of the first people I interviewed with 30 years ago. I am sorry to hear this news but I am glad to hear of his faith in Jesus. Praying for the family.
