The Fishing Prayer

God grant me a little more time to pick up my rod and cast my line.

Work and worry disappear when I pick up my fishing gear.

With the boat on the trailer, I will go anywhere.

The fishing’s not too slow.

Work doesn’t seem so fine when I see what’s at the end of my fishing line.

When I am feeble, old, and gray, please don’t take my pole away.

When the pearly gates open wide, please find this old fisherman, one good lake inside.

Edd Norton was truly a good friend to me. Knowing him since I was a 9 or 10 year old boy, he was always good to me. He always treated me like I was one of his own whenever I was around (including a chewing when we needed it). I’m glad that we got to know each other and everyone should be so fortunate as to have someone like him as a friend. Giving good advice, willing to help if it was in needed, and always with a belly full of laughs. I’ll miss how forward he was and his sense of humor the most. Fly high my friend it’s been the pleasure of a lifetime knowing you.

Well, how do you say goodby to a friend of over 70+year’s, my grand-maw, and Edd’s mama were best friend’s, Edd was my fish’in buddy, my dirt rac’in crew, my confidant, my mischievous cohort, my loyal friend, one you can coun’t on, truck’in buddy, and meant more to me than my on brother’s, I’m sure the Lord will let him in, even though that 1 1/2# Crappie, ‘he said’, he caught on Mt. Island, only weighted 3/4#. 40 yr’s ago Edd & Pat stood up for us when we married, we traveled together, partied, BBQ’ed, Fish Fried, and enjoyed the company of each other, like they say a cowboy never say’s ‘BY’, so my Brother, until we meet again on that ‘Golden Pond’—-LATER!!!!!!
