Robert Darren Hunt, 57, of Lincolnton, North Carolina, passed away at his home on September 21, 2026.
Known by his family and friends as Robby, he was born on August 6, 1969, to Lahona Harris and the late Robert Hunt.
Robby was a humble man with a servant’s heart who loved his family deeply. In recent years, his faith became an increasingly important part of his life. Robby dedicated his life to the Lord, was baptized, and became part of the church family at Iron Station Missionary Church. His decision to follow Christ brought him great peace and gave those who loved him the assurance that his earthly journey was not the end of his story. The personal testimonies that he shared and the prayers that he led, we an inspiration to his church family.
Of all the relationships Robby treasured, none was more special than the one he shared with his grandson, River. Robby and River were best buddies and adventure partners. Whether they were fishing together, heading to the mountains, or making trips to Tennessee to see the dinosaurs, Robby loved making memories with River. Some of River’s greatest adventures had his Grandpa right beside him. River was the joy of Robby’s life, and the love between Grandpa and grandson is a legacy that will remain long after Robert’s passing.
Robby is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lahona and Archie Harris; stepdaughter, Morgan Cobb, grandson, River; sister, Cammie Stamey and husband Mike; brother, Jeremy Hunt; niece, Lauryn Stamey, and nephew Harrison Hunt, and extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hunt; his beloved daughter, Anna Hunt; and his sister-in-law, Geneva Hunt.
Robby’s life reminds us that some of life’s greatest treasures aren’t measured by possessions or accomplishments, but by the people we love, the memories we make, and ultimately, the faith we place in Jesus Christ. He leaves behind memories of fishing trips, mountain roads, dinosaur adventures, time spent with family, and a little boy who knew his Grandpa not only as family, but as his best buddy.
A Memorial service will be held at Iron Station Missionary Church on Saturday, November 14th at 2PM, with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. The address is 2583 Will Schronce Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
