Caroline Rosalia Lucero Melton

Caroline Rosalia Lucero Melton, 84, passed away on October 20, 2026 at 2:42am, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, love, laughter, and a family who will forever hold her close in their hearts. Born on September 25, 1942, in Denver, Colorado, Caroline made her home in St. Louis, MO for the majority of her life before relocating to North Carolina, to be closer to her grandkids.

Caroline was a one-of-a-kind woman with a personality that could never be duplicated. She had her own special way of doing things, a love for the things that brought her joy, and a spirit that those who knew her will never forget. She enjoyed drawing, dancing, arts and crafts, and keeping things clean. She loved Elvis, a good margarita, and, of course, her favorite meal of all — breakfast! Whether she was enjoying her favorite music, creating something with her hands, or spending time with the people she loved.

Caroline had a way of making life her own. Her unforgettable favorite saying, “Yeah Man,” will forever bring smiles and memories to those who knew her best. One of the sweetest parts of Caroline’s life was the love she shared with her special fur friends, Whisper and Charlee, who stayed faithfully by her side until the very end. Their companionship brought her comfort and love, and they were an important part of her life.

Caroline’s greatest legacy is the family she leaves behind. She will be forever loved and remembered by her children, Renee L Melton and Larry R. Melton; her grandchildren, Nicole Renee James, Jordyn McKenzie Childers, and Maggie Mae Melton; her bonus grandchildren, Ashlee Nicole Murray, Hannah Renee Magnuson, and Dawson Keith Magnuson; and her four great-grandchildren, Kynlee, Jace, Trae, and Carter, who brought another special kind of love and joy into her life.

Caroline was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Beatrice Duran and Jacobo Lucero; her devoted husband, Larry Paul Melton; and her siblings, Josephine Ortega, Kathleen Favuola Lucero, Patrick Jacob Lucero, Judy Percilla Lucero, and Robert Dwayne Lucero.

She is survived by her siblings, Betty Lou Lucero, Gilbert Lynn, William Lucero, Leo Lucero, and her sister-in-law, Maureen. She is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed to know her and share in the memories that made her life unique.

The family would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank-you to Keith and Jenny Magnuson for the loving care, kindness, compassion, and unwavering support they gave Caroline over the last four years. Your love and dedication meant more than words can ever express. The time, comfort, and care you provided will never be forgotten, and our family will always be grateful for everything you did for her.

Caroline will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Larry P. Melton, reunited in their final resting place. Though Caroline’s time here has come to an end, the memories she created, the love she gave, and the pieces of her personality that live on in her family will remain forever. She will be remembered in the music of Elvis, in a good breakfast, in a little creativity, in a dance, and in the familiar words, “Yeah Man.” Until we meet again, Caroline, may you rest peacefully, surrounded by love. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. “Yeah Man.” ❤️
