Willie Roscoe Griffin

Willie Roscoe Griffin of Iron Station, 82, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. He was born on January 20, 1944 in Rocky Mount, NC to Cecil and Lula Mae Griffin.

Willie graduated from Benvenue High School in 1963, and joined the army in 1964, where he retired from the Army Reserves after 20 years of service. He then had a long career as an insurance salesman. He will be remembered for his smile and kind, outgoing personality. He was a dedicated church member throughout his life and served several churches as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. His memory is cherished by his Faith Baptist church family, where he attended.

Willie was a beloved father to his two children, and a beloved Kk to his five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, and could almost always be found with his golf club in hand, even if he was just watching TV. He was a passionate Braves baseball fan, a Duke Basketball fan, and a Dallas Cowboys football fan. He loved the beach and going fishing on the pier.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart of 56 years, Barbara Griffin, his oldest son, Brian Keith Griffin, and his sister, Geraldine Melton.

Left to cherish his memory is his sister Elba Mae Cherry; son Bradley Roscoe Griffin (Debbie) daughter Beverly Griffin Honeycutt (Richie); daughter-in-law Kristy Griffin; grandchildren Lauren Rayfield (Casey), Hannah Cooper (Justin), Tyler Honeycutt (Sarah), Jordan Foy, Austyn Reser (Josh); and great grandchildren Kennedy Hope Rayfield, Judson Lee Rayfield, Andrew Brian Honeycutt, Stoney John Cooper, Elliot James Rayfield, Kinston Jay Reser, Beau Griffin Cooper, and Lakely Ruth Reser; special friend Janet Williams, and special cousin Louise “Sunshine” Williams.

A very special thank you from Willie’s family to VIA Health Partners Hospice of Lincolnton, for the compassion, love, and excellent care shown to Willie and the family during this difficult time, especially to his daily nurse, Regina.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 with a visitation from 2:00-3:00, and a service at 3:00 to be held in the fellowship building of Faith Baptist Church located at 5194 Old Plank Rd, Iron Station, NC.
