Luz “Lucy” Marina Spasbo Hernández, age 54, of Crouse, North Carolina, passed away on April 8, 2026. She was born in Costa Rica on May 25, 1971, and will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
Lucy was a devoted mother to her children, Carlos Humberto Jimenez, Diana Elisa Slayton, and Stanley David Spasbo, who were the center of her life and greatest pride. She was also the beloved daughter of Nicolasa Angela Mejia Arguedas and Jose Maria Hernández Mejias.
For the last eight years of her life, Lucy worked as a machine specialist at Bosch, where she was respected for her dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, she loved spending time at the beach, hiking, and enjoying life with family and friends. She was especially known for her bright smile and her infectious joy—even during the most difficult moments.
What made Lucy truly special was her resilience and perseverance throughout her life. As a young woman, she moved to North Carolina with nothing but a suitcase and built a meaningful life through determination, courage, and love for her family. She carried herself with grace, never held grudges, and always chose happiness. Her strength and spirit will continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
Lucy’s memory will live on in the hearts of her children, extended family, and all those whose lives she touched.
