Loreta Cox Knox 91, of Denver, NC, a long-time resident of Steele Creek passed away Tuesday June 7, 2016, daughter of the late L. Guy Cox and Ruth Heath Cox, born and raised in Charlotte. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, John Samuel Knox, Sr. and daughter, Jessica Leigh Knox. Mrs. Knox is survived by her children: John S. Knox, Jr. (Margie), Michael G. Knox (Linda) and Susan Knox Gordon, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In younger years she was an avid horse woman, breeding and riding them .She and her husband, Sam enjoyed attending horse shows watching daughter Susan compete. Mrs. Knox was a long time member of the Eastern Star and current member of Westport Baptist Church. She spent many of her later years caring for their handicapped daughter, Jessica. The family wishes to thank Mary & Peter Fedur, of Mary’s Assisted Living and the folks at Lakewood Care Center of Denver for their loving care.
There will be a graveside service at 1:00 PM, June 20 at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 7407 Steele Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC. Serving the family is The Good Samaritan Funeral Home of Denver, NC. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice, Charlotte region.
