Donna Zelma Cornelius, 78, of Denver NC passed away on June 2, 2023, at Novant Health Huntersville. She was born to the late James Luke and Zelma Cornelius in Norfolk, Virginia on October 11, 1944.
Donna graduated from Western Carolina University and worked as a Supervisor in the Textile Industry.
Donna moved home to Denver to be the caretaker to her mother until she passed away in 2012.
As a lifelong member of the Denver community, Donna was a tremendous historical resource and enjoyed sharing her memories of the area with friends and family. She was a volunteer for the Easter Seals. She was an extremely artistic and crafty person who enjoyed crocheting, painting, woodworking, and making sculptures. She loved her deer and her fur babies.
Donna is survived by her longtime friend and caretaker Priscilla Lammi; sister Dianne Wesson and her husband Ronnie; niece Connie Burkett and her husband Will; nephew Mark Wesson and his wife Kellie; great nephews Hunter Burkett and his wife Breanna, Bryson Burkett, Luke Burkett and Wyatt Wesson; great niece Peyton Wesson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 1:00PM – 2:00PM at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church. A service will follow the visitation at 2:00PM. Internment will take place in the church cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna’s memory can be made to Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church.
I enjoyed her amazing sense of humor. She will be missed.
