John Anthony Bluemke

John “Johnny Boy” Bluemke was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, the 18th of June 2026, in Denver, North Carolina. He was surrounded by his loving family: his daughter Maureen, son-in-law Jerry, daughter Lorraine (LJ), son-in-law Erin, son John Anthony Jr, and daughter-in-law Sabrine.

John was born on the 16th of January 1937, in Brooklyn, New York to Antoinette and Peter Bluemke. John was proud of his roots and cherished his family.

He and his loving wife Lorraine Sr. were best friends for 63 beautiful years; they raised their wonderful family in Queens, New York, before moving to North Carolina in 2010.

John was a devoted husband and amazing father to John Anthony Jr, Maureen, and Lorraine, as well as a loving papa to his grandchildren: Lauren and her husband Jonathan, Anthony, Jackson, and Olivia. John was incredibly proud of each of his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

John was not only an amazing and caring father, papa, and man, he also served with honor as a weapons tester in the United States Navy and he would gladly tell stories of his Navy days.

John never met a stranger and everyone who met him enjoyed his company. He loved joking, laughing, and pulling pranks. He was full of love and was a truly special man. Everyone that knew him always had something wonderful to say about him.

John loved country music and baseball, which was a passion he shared with his son John Anthony Jr. He doted upon his daughters, Maureen and Lorraine, with love and affection, and he loved his cats Juxie, Ginny, and Lucy.

John is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine Sr, his mother Antoinette Bluemke, his father Peter Bluemke, sister Rosie Bernhard, and sister Theresa Kearney.

Visitation will take place on Monday and Tuesday June 29, 2026 and June 30, 2026 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM each day. John will be laid to rest on Wednesday July 1, 2026 at 12:30PM at Salisbury National Cemetery.
