Stephen Cort Hollar

Cort Hollar, 41, of Iron Station, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 20, 2025. Born on January 18, 1984, he was the son of Sue Bolick Hollar and the late Sanford Clarence Hollar in Catawba County.

A 2002 graduate of St. Stephens High School, Cort went on to work as a foreman at MDI. He was a member of Highland Drive Freewill Baptist Church in Lincolnton.

Cort had a deep love for the outdoors and spent many happy hours hunting and fishing. He was a devoted father who never missed a volleyball game or practice, cheering on his daughter Gemma with pride. He adored his youngest daughter, Remi, who he lovingly called her “his little tornado,” and he cherished every moment spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sanford Hollar; his maternal grandparents, George and Doris Bolick; his paternal grandmother, Nina Hollar; and a special grandfather figure, Hugh Bolick.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Julia Hollar, of the home; his two beloved daughters, Gemma and Remi Hollar; his mother, Sue Bolick Hollar; his sister, Shannon Bolick (Todd); his brother, Donald Hefner (Nikki); his parents-in-law, Jim and Tam Pauley; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Tyler; his special Yaya; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Cort’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Highland Drive Freewill Baptist Church in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m., followed by a service at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cort’s memory may be made to a fund that will be established for his daughters.
