Charles Edward Henderson, 86, passed away on September 8, 2025 at Sherrills Ford Hospice House. He was born on January 7, 1939 in Charlotte, NC in the home he was raised in.
Charles attended Central Piedmont High School in Charlotte. He worked for WC McClure (Charlotte) for 40+ years as a construction equipment operator.
He loved his family and especially the family gatherings every July 4th and Thanksgiving Day. He loved NASCAR (going to races and watching it on TV), surf and pier fishing (He learned to drive at the beach when he was only 12 years old, driving his dad around to different piers), leather working (making belts and purses) and loved to be outside and working with his hands building things. He had a shed full of tools he collected his entire life.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Lester Henderson and Sonora Morton Henderson (both of Charlotte); wife Sandra Henderson (Denver, NC); son Charles Lee Henderson (Denver, NC); sister JoAnn Crump (Charlotte, NC); brothers Paul Henderson (Charlotte, NC), Tommy Henderson (Charlotte, NC) and Lewis Henderson (Charlotte, NC).
Charles is survived by his son Bryan (Wendy) Henderson (Conover, NC); daughter Tammy (Gary) Henderson (Rockwell, NC); 4 grandaughters Cassey (Steven) McConnell (Maiden, NC), Anna Bolick (Lincolnton, NC), Brittany (Nick) Ward, (Lincolnton, NC) and Kendall Henderson (fiance, Collin Stephenson) (Wilmington, NC); sisters Jean (Willie) McClure (Charlotte, NC) and Lucy Hough (Matthews, NC); 5 great grandsons and 4 great granddaughters and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Family will receive from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at The Good Samaritan Funeral Home 3362 North Highway 16 Denver, North Carolina. A Celebration of Charles’ Life will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home.
