Jack Barnes passed away September 21, 2026 in Denver, NC. Born in South Bend, IN to Leo and Dorothea Barnes on November 4, 1933, Jack was the loving husband to Carol Barnes and then Ann Barnes, father to Denise Hutchins(Randy Shaw), Diane Lucas, Lisa (Glen) Trematore and Greg (Kathleen) Barnes, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchilden. Jack was preceded in death by his two wives, Carol and Ann, his son Steven, son-in-law Leo Hutchins, son-in-law Steve Fred and two brothers Frank and Gene.Jack was a graduate of the University of Louisville school of engineering and a civilian graduate of the US Navy school of nuclear engineering. He worked for many years for Westinghouse in the nuclear submarine program, commercial nuclear power and research and development. He left Westinghouse to form Stardyne a high energy laser manufacturing firm. In retirement he was a consultant to the University of Pittsburgh, Penn State University and the National Center for Defense Manufacturing. He was also a veteran of the Korean was conflict.
Jack had a wide range of interests his favorites included spending time with his family, golf and flying.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt Holly where a Memorial Service will be held in his honor on October 16, 2026. Visitation will be at 11:00AM and service will begin at 12:00PM.
