John Samuel Reeder, Jr. 76, of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026 at Sherrills Ford Hospice House. Born September 18, 1949, in Union County, NC, he was the son of the late John Samuel Reeder and the late Rosa Inez Efird Reeder.
John retired from Freightliner as a quality supervisor. He was a lifelong baseball fan with the NY Yankees as his favorite team. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and mountain vacations as well as short beach trips. John was a foster parent to several children and his love for his children, his family, his church and his God are evident by the way he lived his life.
He is survived by his wife Marsha Stowe Reeder of Sherrills Ford, NC; son Gary Reeder (Angela) of Maiden, NC; daughter Tonya Reeder Gilmore (Jason) of Mount Pleasant, NC; stepsons Ryan Friday of Denver, NC, and Bret Friday of Mojave, California; grandsons Milo Friday of the home; Dylan Reeder of Asheville, NC, Zac Reeder of West Jefferson, NC and Chris Honeycutt of NC; granddaughter Madison Honeycutt of Troutman, NC; and great-granddaughters Ivy Reeder and Indigo Reeder, both of West Jefferson, NC; sisters Carolyn Baucom (Thurlow-deceased); Becky Crisco (Jim) and brother Ben Reeder (Elaine) of Huntersville, NC. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Betty Jean Crump and husband Haywood and sister Polly Wilson Tarlton and husband Andy.
Visitation at 11:00 followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:30 am at Fairfield Methodist Church, 7860 Fairfield Forest Rd. in Denver, NC (28037) on Friday, September 5 th . In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Fairfield Methodist Church Building Fund.
