Gloria Knotts of Denver, NC, age 84, passed away peacefully at home with her son, Jerry Knotts, by her side holding her hand on September 18, 2025. She was a breast cancer survivor. She was born on February 20, 1941 in Columbia, SC to the late Harry William Franklin and Dorothy Franklin (Smith).
Gloria was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose home was always open to family and friends. She loved spending time with family and friends and caring for her pets. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, loved watching true crime and was the best at Jeopardy. She spent much of her life working as a paralegal.
Gloria was the oldest of her siblings (Dorothy “Dot” Roberts and Sudie Borders). She was the mother of three sons (Jerry Knotts, Glenn “Dickie” Knotts and Donald “Donnie” Baucom. She was the grandmother to two loving grandchildren (Heather Cothran and James Knotts). She was the great-grandmother of four adorable great-grandchildren (Zackary McCoy, Jimmy Knotts, Khyla Donavant (step great-grandchild) and Grayson Knotts.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, William and Dorothy, her sister Dorothy (Dot), her son, Glenn.
She is survived by her sister, Sudie, her sons, Jerry and Donnie, her grandchildren, Heather and James, her great-grandchildren, Zackary, Jimmy, Khyla and Grayson.
In honor of her final wishes, Gloria will be cremated and a small memorial will be held at Lake Norman State Park on Saturday, October 18, 2025 between 12-4. She loved the mountains and wanted her remains to be spread, and we will be deciding on when to do that on a later date.
