Patricia Gloria Schild

Patricia Gloria (Patty) Schild transitioned to her eternal home on May 5, 2025 at the age of 63 after a courageous 4 plus year battle with metastatic colon cancer.  Patty died peacefully in her Denver, NC home with her husband by her side.   She was born in Havana, IL, the daughter of William Walter and Dorothy Mae Fishel Van Name on December 18, 1961. She grew up in Fairlawn NJ.  She graduated from Passaic County Tech & Vocational HS in 1981.

Patty’s first employment out of high school was with The Haband Company in Patterson, NJ, where she held many positions over her 10 year career with the company.  This is where she met her future husband, Mark.  Together she and Mark moved to Charlotte, in 1993.  She immediately began her career as a Logistics Import/Export Manager.  She would often explain her job as “a travel agent for freight”.  Patty married Mark on August 30 1997 in Mooresville, NC.

She remained in logistics management until the cancer diagnosis in December of 2020.  She and Mark lived in Charlotte and Mooresville, NC before settling in Denver, NC.   Patty loved the beach and the weekend trips to watch her son Kenny play travel baseball.  She was a member at Lake Norman Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was an Ultimate Frisbee Coach.  She loved to share stories with friends about her family and had an infectious smile that radiated a room.

Patty Schild is survived by husband Mark Schild of Denver, N.C.; son, Kenneth (Kenny) Schild of Huntersville NC.; sisters, Debby Gaugler (Rich) and Tina; brothers Walter (Karen), Billy, Michael, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be at Lake Norman Lutheran Church on May 30 2025 at 1:00pm with visitation at noon.  Pastor Tim Baldinger will be officiating the service.

Arrangements will be handled by Good Samaritan Funeral Home of Denver, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Via Health Partners (Hospice of Lincoln County) or Lake Norman Lutheran Church.

The family would like to offer sincere thanks to the staff, nurses and doctors with Via Health Partners.  Their care for not just Patty but for the entire family is very much appreciated.
