She attended Farragut High School and did secretarial work until she married Harry Lawrence Cox in 1947. They gave birth to their first child Rhonda in 1951, son Gordon in 1954, and Jack in 1956.
In 1971, Charlotte, Harry and the boys moved to Stanley, NC to be closer to Harry’s family and aging mother. The couple owned several local businesses including a grocery store, gas station, pool hall, auto repair and salvage yard.
Charlotte is survived by her sister Susan (Stajenka) Rogala, daughter Rhonda Lee (Cox) Moore, son Jack Cox and daughters-in-law Daphne Denise (Eury) Cox, Juanita Roberts, grandchildren Wendy (Moore) Franke and husband Rik, Shari Shubert, Crystal Cox, Gordon Cox, Jr., Merissa (Cox) Cochran and husband Drew, Michael Cox and wife Brittany, and great grandchildren Nicolas Brusaw, Paige Elizabeth Franke, Erik Anders Franke, Amaira Cochran, Bryson Cox, Hannah Cochran, Lacy Cox and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her Mother, Father, Brother John Stajenka, husband, nephews Alex Rogala and David Rogala and son Gordon.
Charlotte will be remembered for her cooking; she always enjoyed having the “kids” over sending no one home hungry. During this time of year her delicious dressing at Thanksgiving and Christmas will be dearly missed. It was peach dumplings in the summer time, always candy in the drawer and cookies or cake on the counter. Her grandchildren will remember most her awesome back scratching, playing scrabble, seeing plays, trips to the mountains, many over nights and waking up to her a.m. radio playing a favorite talk show.
